Figure / Painting Information
What is a number 2? A number 2 is the gpmg's assistant gunner - after various interactions with former Royal Marines who served during the conflict the ammunition was carried utilising a number of methods - to quote 'They were also up and over our heads, I suppose like Rambo'. The ammunition belts were worn with the tips of the rounds facing outwards. In addition to this additional rounds were sometimes also carried in smock / trouser pockets as the Mne's were told to carry as much ammunition as possible. For those hand painting the bust every 5th round was a tracer round and therefore had a red tip. Service helmets were donned by the troops in combat as they were severely frowned upon and replaced with beret.
